HCS301-I/SN

The Microchip Technology HCS301-I/SN is a secure code hopping encoder utilizing KEELOQ® technology for Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) applications. This device generates a 66-bit code word, combining a 32-bit hopping code with a 28-bit serial number and 6 information bits, which enhances security by making each transmission unique and preventing code scanning.

Key features include a programmable 28-bit serial number and a programmable 64-bit encryption key, with encryption keys being read-protected. The HCS301 operates over a wide voltage range of 3.5V to 13.0V and offers four button inputs, providing 15 available functions. It also includes features like automatic code word completion and a battery low signal transmission.

This encoder is ideal for automotive RKE systems, alarm systems, immobilizers, gate and garage door openers, identity tokens, and burglar alarm systems. It is housed in an 8-SOIC surface mount package, requiring no additional external circuitry for basic operation. The device features an on-chip EEPROM for storing keys and configuration data, which is programmable but read-protected.

The HCS301 is functionally identical to the HCS300 and offers an easy-to-use programming interface. It includes on-chip oscillator and timing components, internal pull-down resistors on button inputs, and current limiting on the LED output, contributing to low external component costs.
