The Gennum GS9010A is a monolithic integrated circuit functioning as an Automatic Tuning Subsystem (ATS). It is designed to work with Gennum's GS9005A Receiver or GS9015A Reclocker and GS9000B or GS9000S Decoder to create a 'tweakless' Serial Digital receiving system.
This IC eliminates the need for manual adjustments or external temperature compensation for the Receiver or Reclocker VCO. It can automatically determine the incoming data stream format, including 4:2:2 component video, 4:2:2, and 4:4:4 NTSC or PAL. The GS9010A acquires lock from a 'no signal' condition in approximately 50 ms and can hold lock during data interruptions for up to 2 seconds.
Key features include operation from a single +5 or -5 volt supply, typically consuming only 40 mW of power, and immunity to spurious HSYNC inputs. It is housed in a 16-pin SOIC package, making it suitable for various digital interface applications requiring automatic tuning and signal reception.
Applications include 4:4:4, 4:2:2, and 360 Mb/s serial digital interfaces where precise and automatic signal reception is critical.
