The FZT491TA is an NPN medium power transistor designed for general purpose switching and amplification. It features a collector-emitter breakdown voltage (VCEO) of 60V minimum and a continuous collector current (IC) of 1A, with peak pulse current capability up to 2A. The device offers low saturation voltage (VCE(sat)) of 500mV maximum at 1A collector current and 100mA base current, ensuring efficient low-loss operation. DC current gain (hFE) is a minimum of 100 at 500mA, 5V. Transition frequency is typically 150MHz.
The transistor is qualified to AEC-Q101 standards for high reliability automotive applications. It is ESD rated to 8kV HBM (Class 3B) and 400V MM (Class C). The device is housed in a surface-mount SOT-223 package with matte tin plated leads, UL 94V-0 flammability rating, and MSL Level 1 (unlimited). It is RoHS3 compliant, halogen and antimony free, and lead-free. Thermal resistance junction-to-ambient is 62.5°C/W on a standard 25mm x 25mm FR4 PCB with 1oz copper.
Typical applications include power MOSFET gate driving, low loss power switching, and general purpose medium power amplification. The complementary PNP type is FZT591.
