FT800Q-R

The FTDI FT800Q-R is an Embedded Video Engine (EVE) graphic controller IC designed for high-quality Human Machine Interface (HMI) and embedded display applications. It is widely used in industrial control panels, consumer touchscreen interfaces, and instrumentation equipment, where combined graphics, audio, and touch control with simplified host interaction is required.

This controller supports displays up to 512 x 512 pixels with a color depth of up to 262K colors with dithering. It features SPI (up to 30 MHz) and I2C (up to 3.4 MHz) interfaces for host communication, along with memory-mapped SPI/I2C host bus capabilities. The FT800Q-R integrates mono audio output via PWM and a sound synthesizer, as well as a 4-wire resistive touch controller.

Operating within a voltage range of 1.8V to 3.3V, the FT800Q-R typically draws around 24 mA during active use. Its integrated graphics controller with EVE allows for efficient rendering, and it supports built-in widget functionality and object-oriented graphics for simplified UI creation. No external frame buffer RAM is required for many display modes, reducing system complexity and component count.

Typical application scenarios include industrial HMI and control panels, consumer touchscreen interfaces for home appliances and smart devices, instrumentation and measurement systems, Point-of-Sale (POS) and kiosk displays, and automotive instrumentation touch panels.
