The FT245BM is a second-generation USB FIFO Integrated Circuit from FTDI, designed for bi-directional data transfer between USB and parallel interfaces. It supports data rates up to 1Mbps using D2XX drivers and 300 Kilobytes/sec with VCP drivers. The device simplifies interfacing with MCUs, PLDs, and FPGAs through a 4-wire handshake. It handles the entire USB protocol on-chip, eliminating the need for USB-specific firmware programming.
The FT245BM includes a 384 Byte Tx FIFO buffer and a 128 Byte Rx FIFO buffer for high data throughput. It supports USB Suspend/Resume functions and can power high-power USB bus-powered devices.
