The FTDI FT2233HPQ-TRAY is a versatile High-Speed USB device integrating a Type-C and Power Delivery (PD) 3.0 controller. This chip fully supports the latest USB Type-C and PD standards, enabling power negotiation to sink or source current.
Its core function is a USB bridge providing two independent channels, similar to the FT2232H, offering a dual Hi-speed USB to multipurpose UART/MPSSE solution. Advanced features include support for PD specification Rev 3.0, with Port 1 configurable for Sink or Dual-role and Port 2 acting as a Sink. It supports various PDOs (Power Data Objects) as sink or source, including 5V3A, 9V3A, 12V3A, 15V3A, and 20V3A.
The device handles the entire USB protocol on-chip, eliminating the need for USB-specific firmware programming. It is compatible with USB 2.0 High Speed (480Mbits/Second) and Full Speed (12Mbits/Second). Two Multi-Protocol Synchronous Serial Engines (MPSSE) are available on channels A and B, simplifying designs for synchronous serial protocols like JTAG, I2C, SPI, or bit-bang. The UART interface supports data rates up to 12Mbaud and offers flexible configuration options for data bits, stop bits, and parity.
Packaged in a 76-QFN (9x9) with a 76-VFQFN Exposed Pad, the FT2233HPQ-TRAY operates within a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. It requires a single supply voltage of +3.3V for operation and I/O interfacing, with an integrated +1.2V LDO regulator for VCORE.
