Honeywell's FSS-SMT Series force sensors, including the FSS1500NGT, are engineered for reliability and precision in industrial applications. These low-profile sensors utilize Surface Mount Technology (SMT), enabling automated assembly on printed circuit boards and potentially reducing manufacturing costs.

The FSS1500NGT incorporates a specialized piezoresistive micromachined silicon sensing element within a Wheatstone bridge circuit. This design provides a stable mV output proportional to the applied force, which can range up to 60 N depending on the specific model. The sensor concentrates force through a stainless steel ball directly to the sensing element, minimizing coupling errors and mechanical hysteresis.

Key features include a low deflection of approximately 30 µm at full scale, which helps reduce measurement error. The sensor is rated for 20 million Mean Cycles to Failure (MCTF) at 25°C, ensuring consistent output over time and reducing the need for repairs or replacements. Its compact size and low power requirements make it suitable for various battery-powered applications.
