The Ramtron FM25L256 is a 256-kilobit nonvolatile memory utilizing an advanced ferroelectric process. This FRAM (Ferroelectric Random Access Memory) offers the read and write performance of a RAM with nonvolatile data retention for up to 10 years. It operates over an extended temperature range of -25°C to +85°C.
Designed with a high-speed Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI), the FM25L256 supports frequencies up to 20 MHz and is compatible with SPI modes 0 and 3. It offers unlimited read/write cycles and NoDelay™ writes, allowing immediate commencement of the next bus cycle without data polling. This makes it ideal for applications requiring frequent or rapid writes, such as data collection or industrial controls.
The device operates at low voltages between 3.0V and 3.6V, with a typical standby current of 1 µA. It is available in industry-standard 8-pin SOIC and 8-pin TDFN packages, with "Green" packaging options also offered. The FM25L256 serves as a direct hardware replacement for serial EEPROMs, providing enhanced performance and lower power consumption.
