The ON Semiconductor FDMF6821A is an ultra-compact, integrated MOSFET plus driver power stage solution from the XS™ DrMOS family. It is optimized for high-current, high-frequency synchronous buck DC-DC applications, offering peak efficiencies over 93% and high-current handling up to 60A.
The module integrates a driver IC, two power MOSFETs, and a bootstrap Schottky diode into a thermally enhanced 6x6mm PQFN package. This integrated approach optimizes driver and MOSFET dynamic performance, system inductance, and power MOSFET Rds(on). It utilizes ON Semiconductor's PowerTrench MOSFET technology to reduce switch ringing and eliminate the need for snubber circuits in most applications.
The FDMF6821A features a 3-state 3.3V PWM input for compatibility with various PWM controllers and includes a Skip Mode for improved light-load efficiency. It also provides a thermal warning flag for over-temperature conditions and driver output disable functionality. The device is optimized for switching frequencies up to 1 MHz and is based on the Intel® 4.0 DrMOS Standard.
This DrMOS module is suitable for demanding applications such as high-performance gaming motherboards, compact blade servers, desktop computers, workstations, and high-current DC-DC point-of-load converters. Its compact size and high performance make it ideal for space-constrained designs.
