The FAN7930BMX-G is an active power factor correction (PFC) controller designed for boost PFC applications operating in critical conduction mode (CRM). It utilizes a voltage-mode PWM control scheme, comparing an internal ramp signal with the error amplifier output to generate a MOSFET turn-off signal. This design eliminates the need for rectified AC line voltage information, saving power loss associated with input voltage sensing networks.
This controller offers a voltage range of 13V to 20V and operates at frequencies between 250kHz and 350kHz. It provides essential protection features including over-voltage protection (OVP), open-feedback protection, over-current protection (OCP), input-voltage-absent detection, and under-voltage lockout protection (UVLO). The FAN7930BMX-G is housed in an 8-SOIC package, suitable for surface mounting.
Key features include an additional OVP detection pin, VIN-absent detection, maximum switching frequency limitation, internal soft-start, and an internal THD optimizer. It also incorporates a zero current detector (ZCD) and provides precise adjustable output over-voltage protection. The device is designed for low startup and operating current, with a totem-pole output capable of ±500/−800 mA peak gate drive current.
