FAN7842M

The FAN7842M is a monolithic integrated circuit designed for high- and low-side gate driving applications. Manufactured by ON Semiconductor, this device is capable of driving MOSFETs and IGBTs operating at voltages up to +200 V. Its design incorporates onsemi's high-voltage process and a common-mode noise canceling technique, ensuring stable operation of the high-side driver even under high dv/dt noise conditions.

Key electrical specifications include a VCC & VBS supply range from 10 V to 20 V, with output driver current capabilities of typically 350 mA sourcing and 650 mA sinking for both channels. The device features UVLO (Under-Voltage Lockout) protection for both channels to prevent malfunction. Input logic levels are compatible with standard TTL-series logic gates, and matched propagation delays are below 50 ns.

The FAN7842M is housed in an 8-SOIC package, suitable for surface mounting. Its applications include battery-based motor systems such as e-bikes and power tools, as well as telecom DC-DC converters. The device is Pb-Free, Halide Free, and RoHS Compliant.

This gate driver IC is designed for robust performance in demanding environments. The advanced level-shift circuit allows for high-side gate driver operation with an extended allowable negative VS swing to -9.8 V (typical) for signal propagation when VBS is 15 V. The output is in-phase with the input signal.
