The FAN6204AMX by On Semiconductor is a secondary-side synchronous rectification (SR) controller designed to enhance efficiency in flyback and forward converters. It utilizes a proprietary linear-predict timing-control technique, enabling noise immunity without current-sense circuitry. This controller is suitable for continuous conduction mode (CCM), discontinuous conduction mode (DCM), and quasi-resonant (QR) flyback converters, as well as forward freewheeling rectification.
The device supports PWM frequency tracking and secondary-side winding voltage detection, allowing operation in both fixed and variable frequency systems. It features an internal Green Mode that stops SR switching to reduce no-load power consumption, with an ultra-low Green Mode operating current of 1.1 mA. The FAN6204AMX operates with an ultra-low VDD voltage range of 4.5 V to 28.5 V, making it versatile for various output voltage applications. It includes VDD pin over-voltage protection and a typical 12 V gate driver clamp.
