ET6416

The ETEK ET6416 is a 16-bit general-purpose I/O expander that facilitates remote I/O expansion for micro-controller families through an I2C-bus interface. It offers a straightforward solution for expanding I/O ports with minimal interconnection.

This I/O expander supports level conversion between different voltage devices, making it suitable for mixed-signal environments. It features two supply voltage ports: VDDI for the main control terminal interface and VDDP for the core circuit and Port P. The ET6416 includes configuration, input, output, and polarity reversal registers. Upon power-on, all I/O ports are configured as inputs.

Key features include a wide operating supply voltage range of 1.65V to 5.5V, low standby current consumption (1.5µA typical at 5V), and Schmitt-trigger action on SCL and SDA inputs for improved noise immunity. The device supports 400 kHz Fast-mode I2C-bus communication. The Port P output can provide up to 25mA of current, capable of directly driving LEDs. An active-low reset input and an open-drain active-low interrupt output are also included.

The ET6416 is widely used in consumer electronics, industrial equipment, smart home devices, and embedded systems, helping to reduce MCU pin limitations and simplify system design.
