The ESDONCAN1LT1G is a low-capacitance bidirectional ESD protection diode designed by On Semiconductor for protecting CAN transceivers from ESD and transient voltages. It has a reverse working voltage of 24V, a breakdown voltage range of 26.2V to 32V at 1mA, and clamping voltages of 36.6V max at 1A and 50V max at 3A (8/20µs waveform). The device can handle a peak pulse current of 3A and a peak power dissipation of 150W per line. Capacitance is only 10pF at 1MHz, ensuring minimal signal degradation on high-speed data lines.
The device is housed in a surface-mount SOT-23-3 package (also known as SOT-23) and is bidirectional with two protection channels. It is Pb-free, RoHS3 compliant, and meets UL 94 V-0 flammability rating. The ESD rating per IEC 61000-4-2 is 23kV for contact discharge. The S/ESDONCAN1 prefix variant (SESDONCAN1) is AEC-Q101 qualified and PPAP capable for automotive applications.
Typical applications include automotive CAN 2.1 and CAN FD networks, industrial DeviceNet and Smart Distribution Systems, and high-speed FlexRay buses. The low leakage current (100nA max) and matched diode capacitance make it suitable for preserving signal integrity in sensitive transceiver designs.
