The ESDA5-1BF4 is a bidirectional single-line TVS diode designed by STMicroelectronics to protect sensitive data lines and I/O ports from ESD transients. It features a reverse standoff voltage of 5V and a minimum breakdown voltage of 5.8V at 1 mA. The typical clamping voltage is 11V under IEC 61000-4-2 contact discharge at 8 kV after 30 ns. This device can handle peak pulse current up to 10A (8/20 µs) and peak pulse power up to 110W (8/20 µs).
With ultra-low leakage current of 100 nA at 5V and typical capacitance of 45 pF at 1 MHz, this diode is well suited for high-speed data lines where signal integrity matters. It provides ESD protection of ±15 kV air discharge and ±8 kV contact discharge per IEC 61000-4-2, making it robust for portable electronics exposed to electrostatic discharge.
The component is housed in an ultra-compact 0201 (0603 metric) surface-mount package, occupying only 0.18 mm² of PCB area. Its operating junction temperature range spans from -40°C to +150°C. The ESDA5-1BF4 is RoHS3 compliant, REACH unaffected, and has an MSL of 1 (unlimited). It is suitable for smartphones, tablets, notebooks, portable multimedia devices, and communication systems.
