The ESD8501V5MUT5G is a unidirectional ESD protection diode from ON Semiconductor designed to protect sensitive electronics from electrostatic discharge (ESD) and other transient voltage events. It is compliant with IEC 61000-4-2 Level 4 for ESD (contact and air discharge up to ±30 kV) and IEC 61000-4-5 for lightning surge (70 A, 8/20 µs waveform).
Key electrical characteristics include a reverse standoff voltage of 5.0 V, breakdown voltage range of 6.0 V to 9.0 V (typical 7.0 V at 1 mA), and clamping voltages of 7.5 V at 1 A, 9.5 V at 35 A, and 11.5 V at 70 A. Reverse leakage current is a maximum of 0.1 µA at 5 V. Junction capacitance is 16 pF maximum at 0 V and 1 MHz, making it suitable for high-speed data lines.
The device is housed in a compact 2-UDFN package (case 517CZ) with dimensions 1.6 mm x 1.0 mm, suitable for surface mount assembly. It is RoHS3 compliant, halogen-free, and has an MSL rating of Level 1 (unlimited). Operating temperature range is -65°C to 150°C.
