The ESD7016MUTAG is a low-capacitance TVS diode from onsemi, specifically designed to protect USB 3.0 interfaces. It integrates protection for two SuperSpeed pairs, D+, D−, and Vbus lines into a single device. The ultra-low capacitance of 0.15 pF (typical) and low ESD clamping voltage make it ideal for high-speed data lines.
Key electrical specifications include a reverse working voltage of 5 V, a minimum breakdown voltage of 5.5 V at 1 mA, and typical clamping voltages of 10 V at 1 A (8/20 µs pulse), 14.6 V at 8 A (TLP), and 20.5 V at 16 A (TLP). The device provides ESD protection per IEC 61000-4-2 with ±15 kV contact and air discharge ratings. It also has a typical reverse leakage current of 1.0 µA at 5 V.
The ESD7016MUTAG is available in a surface-mount UDFN8 package (8-UDFN, 3.3x1.0 mm) and is supplied on tape and reel with 3000 units per reel. The flow-through package design facilitates easy PCB layout and matched trace lengths for maintaining consistent impedance between high-speed differential lines. The device is Pb-free and operates over a junction temperature range of -55°C to 125°C.
