The Intel EN5311QI is a complete non-isolated point-of-load (PoL) DC-DC converter that integrates the inductor, MOSFETs, PWM controller, and compensation network into a tiny 5mm x 4mm x 1.1mm QFN package. This ultra-low-profile design requires only two external low-cost ceramic MLCC capacitors, minimizing board area and layout constraints.
Electrical specifications include a wide input voltage range of 2.4V to 6.6V, adjustable output voltage from 0.6V to 6V, and continuous output current of 1A (6W maximum output power). The device achieves up to 94% efficiency (95% typical per datasheet) with a 4MHz switching frequency that enables fast transient response and small external components. Output ripple is typically 5mVp-p, and standby current is less than 1µA.
The EN5311QI offers a 3-pin VID output voltage selector for seven pre-programmed voltages or an external resistor divider for custom settings. Protection features include overcurrent (OCP), overtemperature (OTP), short-circuit (SCP), and undervoltage lockout (UVLO). The enable control is active high. The device is surface-mountable in a 20-PowerTQFN (20-QFN 5x4) package and operates over -40°C to 85°C.
