The EMC2112-BP-TR from Standard Microsystems is an SMBus, closed-loop, RPM-based fan driver featuring hardware thermal shutdown and a reset controller. It provides a single high-side fan driver with a 600mA sourcing capability from a 5V supply.
This fan controller utilizes Beta Compensation and Resistance Error Correction for accurate monitoring of up to three external temperature zones, achieving ±1°C accuracy between 60°C and 100°C with 0.125°C resolution. It supports CPU substrate thermal diodes across various process geometries and discrete diode-connected transistors. Beta Compensation and REC can be disabled for monitoring AMD thermal diodes.
The device includes a stand-alone hardware thermal shutdown block with set points configurable in 1°C increments. It also provides a 5V supply 'power good' function on the RESET pin with a 4.5V threshold. The EMC2112 operates from a single 3.0V to 3.6V supply and is SMBus 2.0 and I2C compatible, with user-selectable addresses.
Available in a 20-pin, 4x4 QFN lead-free RoHS compliant package, the EMC2112-BP-TR is suitable for notebook computers, desktop computers, and embedded applications.
