The DSS5240T-7 is a 40V PNP low saturation bipolar junction transistor designed for high-efficiency switching applications. It offers a continuous collector current of -2A and a peak pulse current of -3A. The device features a low saturation voltage of 350mV maximum at 2A, minimizing conduction losses. With a DC current gain (hFE) of 210 minimum at 1A, it provides excellent current drive capability. The transition frequency is 100 MHz, suitable for moderate-speed switching.
The transistor is housed in a compact SOT23-3 surface mount package, making it ideal for space-constrained designs. It is rated for a power dissipation of 730mW at 25°C ambient and operates over a junction temperature range of -55°C to 150°C. The device is fully RoHS compliant, lead-free, and halogen-free, meeting environmental standards. Moisture sensitivity is Level 1 per J-STD-020.
Typical applications include gate driving for MOSFETs and IGBTs, load switches, DC-DC converters, and battery charging circuits. The complementary NPN type is the DSS4240T. Note that the DSS5240T-7 is not recommended for new designs (NRND); the recommended replacement is ZXTP5240F-7.
