The IXYS DSP8-08A is a phase-leg rectifier diode array containing two standard recovery diodes in a series connection, housed in a TO-220-3 through-hole package. It is designed for line frequency rectification in single and three-phase bridge configurations.
Key electrical specifications include a maximum repetitive reverse voltage of 800V, an average forward current of 11A at Tcase=100°C, and a forward voltage drop of 1.15V maximum at 7A. The device can handle a non-repetitive peak surge current of 100A and has an I²t rating of 50 A²s. Reverse current is limited to 0.5mA at 25°C. The planar passivated chips ensure reliable operation over a wide temperature range of -55°C to 175°C.
Thermal management is supported by a junction-to-case thermal resistance of 3.5 K/W. The package is UL 94V-0 rated and recommended mounting torque is 0.4-0.6 Nm. The part weighs approximately 4 grams.
A surface-mount alternative, the DSP8-08AS, is available in TO-263 AA package for automated assembly processes.
