The IXYS DSA9-12F is an avalanche rectifier diode designed for high-voltage rectification applications. It features a reverse standoff voltage of 1200V and a maximum average forward current of 11A at 150°C case temperature. The diode uses planar passivated chip technology and is available in the industry-standard DO-203AA stud mount package.
With a forward voltage drop of typically 1.4V at 36A and 25°C, the DSA9-12F offers efficient conduction. It can handle surge currents up to 250A at 50Hz (10ms) and 265A at 60Hz (8.3ms) at 45°C. The device also provides high surge power dissipation capability of 4.5kW. Thermal resistance from junction to case is 2 K/W, and from junction to heatsink ranges from 3.0 to 4.64 K/W depending on conduction angle.
The DSA9-12F is suitable for DC power supplies, PWM inverter supplies, DC motor field supplies, and battery charging systems. The stud mount design simplifies mounting and ensures effective heat transfer when used with a heatsink. The operating temperature range is -40°C to +180°C, and the device meets IEC 60747 standards.
