Electrical characteristics include an avalanche voltage range of 7.4V to 11.05V, a trigger voltage of 10V to 11V, and a holding voltage of 5.5V typical. The device can handle a continuous DC current of up to 80mA and has a low leakage current of 30nA typical (100nA max) over the -40°C to +85°C operating temperature range. The trigger current is 1A typical.

 

In the event of an ESD strike, the diode enters a snapback mode, allowing high current flow at a lower voltage. It maintains this state until the voltage or current drops below the holding threshold, then reverts to normal operation with low leakage. The device is designed to fail short circuit under extreme ESD, protecting downstream components.

 

The DS9503P is offered in a space-saving 6-lead TSOC (Thin Small Outline) surface mount package. It is RoHS3 compliant and lead-free, with an MSL rating of Level 1. The part is available in tape and reel packaging (DS9503P+T&R).
