The DS8500-JND+T&R is a single-chip, half-duplex modem IC with Highway Addressable Remote Transducer (HART) capabilities, designed by Analog Devices / Maxim Integrated. It integrates the modulation and demodulation of 1200Hz/2200Hz FSK signals, overlaying digital communication onto existing 4mA-20mA current loop infrastructure.
This device features very low power consumption, with a maximum current draw of 285μA. It requires only a few external components due to its integrated digital signal processing, which ensures reliable signal detection in noisy environments. The operating voltage range is 2.7V to 3.6V, and it supports a data rate of 1200bps.
The DS8500-JND+T&R is housed in a space-saving 5mm x 5mm x 0.8mm, 20-pin TQFN package, making it suitable for low-power process control transmitters. Applications include 4mA-20mA loop-powered transmitters for temperature, pressure, flow, and level measurement, as well as HART multiplexers and modem interface connectivity.
It has been fully tested and verified as a HART-Registered Modem IC. The operating temperature range is -40°C to +85°C.
