The DS8500-JND+ from Analog Devices is a single-chip, half-duplex modem with Highway Addressable Remote Transducer (HART) capabilities. It is designed to overlay 1200bps FSK digital communication on top of existing 4mA-20mA current loop infrastructure, making it ideal for low-power process control transmitters used in temperature, pressure, flow, and level measurement applications.
This HART-registered modem IC features integrated digital signal processing for reliable signal detection in noisy environments. It operates over a voltage range of 2.7V to 3.6V and has a very low current consumption of 285μA maximum. The device requires minimal external components and is housed in a space-saving 5mm x 5mm x 0.8mm, 20-pin TQFN package with an exposed pad.
The DS8500-JND+ is suitable for applications such as 4mA-20mA loop-powered transmitters, HART multiplexers, and HART modem interface connectivity. Its architecture includes an ADC for input signal sampling and a DAC for generating a clean sine wave output with phase-continuous switching.
The operating voltage is 2.7V to 3.6V.
The package type is 20-TQFN.
The operating temperature range is -40°C to +85°C.
