The DS36C278TM from Texas Instruments is a low-power CMOS transceiver compliant with the EIA-RS-485 standard for multipoint data transmission, and is also compatible with TIA/EIA-422-B.
This device is ideal for power-conscious applications, drawing a maximum of 500 μA. It features built-in power-up/down glitch-free circuitry, allowing for live insertion and displacement of transceivers on the bus. The driver outputs can handle a wide common-mode range of -7V to +12V, and the receiver includes an open-input fail-safe feature.
Designed for robustness, the DS36C278TM includes on-board thermal shutdown circuitry to prevent damage during excessive power dissipation. It is available in an 8-SOIC package and operates within an industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. The transceiver supports half-duplex communication and is a drop-in replacement for several common RS-485 transceivers.
The operating voltage range is 4.75V to 5.25V.
The operating temperature range is -40°C to 85°C.
The DS36C278TM is available in an 8-SOIC package.
The DS36C278TM is RoHS3 Compliant.
