The DS33X162+ by Analog Devices is a specialized integrated circuit designed to extend 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet LAN segments. It achieves this by encapsulating MAC frames in formats such as GFP-F, HDLC, cHDLC, or X.86 (LAPS) for transmission over PDH/TDM data streams, supporting Ethernet over PDH (EoPDH) standards for eLAN, eLINE, and VLAN services.
Key features include a 10/100/1000 IEEE 802.3 MAC with autonegotiation and flow control, support for VCAT/LCAS link aggregation up to 16 links, and quality of service (QoS) capabilities including VLAN, Q-in-Q, 802.1p, and DSCP. The device performs store-and-forward operations at wire speed, offering Ethernet traffic conditioning and bridging functions. It supports up to 200ms differential delay and provides flexibility through programmable classification, priority queuing, encapsulation, and bundling.
This device is housed in a 256-CSBGA (17x17) package and is designed for surface mounting. It operates with supply voltages of 1.8V, 2.5V, and 3.3V. The DS33X162+ also features an external 256Mb DDR SDRAM buffer and supports both parallel and SPI microprocessor interfaces, along with IEEE 1149.1 JTAG support.
