DS33M33N+ Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The DS33M33N+ from Analog Devices / Maxim Integrated is a specialized integrated circuit designed for efficient transport of Gigabit Ethernet traffic over OC-3/STM-1 optical networks. This device family provides a compact solution that, with the addition of an optical transceiver, Ethernet PHY, DDR SDRAM, and host processor, can implement a complete GbE over OC-3/STM-1 system.

The DS33M33N+ supports various Ethernet over SONET/SDH (EoS) and Ethernet over PDH over SONET/SDH (EoPoS) modes, including EoS at VC-4, EoS over up to three concatenated VC-3s, and EoPoS over up to three concatenated DS3/E3 tributaries. It features two independent 155.52Mbps SerDes ports and one 10/100/1000 IEEE 802.3 Ethernet MAC port with a configurable MII/RMII/GMII interface.

Key features include support for GFP-F, HDLC, cHDLC, and X.86 (LAPS) frame encapsulations, IEEE 802.1Q VLAN and Q-in-Q support, Quality of Service (QoS) capabilities, and traffic policing through CIR/CBS. The device also offers classification through PCP or DSCP and supports up to a 512Mb DDR SDRAM buffer. It is equipped with SPI and Parallel microprocessor interfaces and operates on 1.8V, 2.5V, and 3.3V supplies. The DS33M33N+ is supplied in a 256-CSBGA (17x17) package and is designed for surface mounting.
