This device integrates essential circuitry, including an HDLC controller, FEAC controller, and a Bit Error-Rate Tester (BERT) for each channel. It supports framing and formatting, B3ZS/HDB3 encoding/decoding, and the generation and detection of DS3/E3 alarms. The framer interfaces with line interface units (LIUs) and microprocessor buses, supporting both binary (NRZ) and dual-rail (POS/NEG) LIU interfaces.

 

Designed for demanding applications, the DS3141N operates over a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C and requires a 3.3V supply with 5V tolerant I/O. It is housed in a 144-pin CSBGA package, measuring 13mm x 13mm. The device also includes support for external timing or loop-timing and IEEE 1149.1 JTAG.

 

Key features include large performance-monitoring counters and support for line, diagnostic, and payload loopbacks. The 8-bit processor port is compatible with both Intel and Motorola bus operations, making it suitable for SONET/SDH Muxes, PDH Muxes, Digital Cross-Connect Systems, Access Concentrators, and Routers.
