DS3112N Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The DS3112N from Analog Devices (Maxim Integrated) is a high-performance telecom interface integrated circuit designed for multiplexing and framing applications. It operates as an M13 or E13 multiplexer, or as a standalone T3 or E3 framer. The device offers flexible multiplexing configurations, including M13 (28 T1 lines into T3), E13 (16 E1 lines into E3), and E1 to T3 (21 E1 lines into T3).

Key features include two T1/E1 drop and insert ports, support for T3 C-Bit Parity Mode, and integrated B3ZS/HDB3 encoder/decoder. The DS3112N also generates and detects T3/E3 and T2/E2 alarms. It incorporates an integrated HDLC controller for LAPD messages, an FEAC controller, and a BERT for performance monitoring. Diagnostic loopback capabilities are supported for T3/E3 and T1/E1 interfaces.

This IC operates on a 3.3V supply with 5V tolerant I/O and is available in a 256-pin PBGA package with 1.27mm pitch. The operating temperature range is -40°C to 85°C, making it suitable for demanding environments. It also supports IEEE 1149.1 JTAG.

Applications for the DS3112N include Wide Area Network access equipment, PBXs, access concentrators, digital cross-connect systems, switches, routers, optical multiplexers, ADMs, and test equipment.
