DS3050W-100#

The DS3050W-100# from Dallas Semiconductor is a 3.3V single-piece, reflowable module combining a 4Mb nonvolatile static RAM (SRAM) with a year 2000-compliant real-time clock (RTC). This surface-mount module features a 256-ball BGA footprint and an internal rechargeable manganese lithium battery with a charger.

When VCC is applied, the module recharges the battery and powers the clock and SRAM from the external source. Upon VCC power down or out-of-tolerance conditions, the controller automatically write-protects the memory and switches to battery power, ensuring data integrity. It includes a power-supply monitor output (RST) and a user-programmable interrupt output (IRQ/FT).

Designed for demanding applications, the DS3050W-100# operates across an industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. Its features include unconditional write protection for clock and SRAM when VCC is out-of-tolerance, automatic switchover to battery during power failures, and a reset output usable as a CPU supervisor. The interrupt output can function as a CPU watchdog timer.

This component is suitable for use in RAID systems, servers, gaming, POS terminals, fire alarms, industrial controllers, PLCs, data-acquisition systems, and routers/switches. The 27mm x 27mm BGA package is reflowable, simplifying integration into surface-mount designs.
