DS28E04S-100+

The DS28E04S-100+ from Analog Devices is a 4096-bit (4Kbit) EEPROM memory chip utilizing the 1-Wire interface protocol. This device is designed for applications requiring small, addressable memory with integrated I/O capabilities.

The memory array is organized into 16 pages of 256 bits each, with a 32-byte scratchpad for write operations. Individual memory pages can be permanently write-protected or set to EPROM-emulation mode. The chip features seven address inputs that map directly into the 1-Wire Device ID Number, facilitating physical location identification in multi-device networks.

In addition to its memory functions, the DS28E04S-100+ includes two general-purpose I/O ports that can be used for input or to generate level and pulse outputs. Activity registers capture port activity for state change monitoring. The device communicates over a single digital signal at speeds of 15.3kbps or 111kbps using the standard Maxim 1-Wire protocol. It supports parasitic or VCC power and operates over a wide voltage range of 2.8V to 5.25V.

This EEPROM is supplied in a 16-pin SOIC package with a surface mount type. The operating temperature range is -40°C to +85°C. Applications include autoconfiguration of modular systems such as central-office switches, cellular base stations, and optical network units, as well as accessory and PCB identification.
