It comprises eight independent framer/formatters and a system interface, each equipped with an HDLC controller. The device supports flexible signaling extraction and insertion, alarm detection, and insertion, along with independent transmit and receive paths.

 

Key features include support for AMI, B8ZS, HDB3, and NRZ line coding, performance monitor counters, and two-frame elastic store buffers for each transmitter and receiver. It also includes a full-feature BERT device that can be mapped to any port and an internal clock generator. The DS26401NA2+ operates on a single 3.3V supply with 5V tolerant inputs and is housed in a 256-CSBGA package.

 

This framer is suitable for applications such as line cards, routers, add-drop multiplexers, DSLAMs, and PBXs. Its flexible TDM backplane supports bus rates from 1.544MHz to 16.384MHz, and it is controlled via an 8-bit parallel port configurable for Intel or Motorola operation. The device operates within a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.
