DS2506S Description

The DS2506S is a 64Kb add-only EPROM memory IC designed by Analog Devices / Maxim Integrated. It communicates using the 1-Wire protocol, requiring only a single data pin plus ground, and operates at speeds up to 16.3 kbits per second, with an overdrive mode boosting speed to 142 kbits per second.

 

This memory device is partitioned into 256-bit pages, allowing for randomly accessed packetized data records. Each page can be permanently write-protected to prevent tampering. The DS2506S is an "add-only" memory, meaning new data can be programmed without disturbing existing data, and software can patch data by superseding old pages with new ones.

 

It operates over a wide voltage range of 2.8V to 6.0V at temperatures from -40°C to +85°C. Programming requires 11.5V to 12.0V and is supported from -40°C to +50°C. The device is available in a low-cost 8-pin SOIC surface mount package.

 

The DS2506S includes a unique, factory-lasered 64-bit registration number for absolute traceability, consisting of an 8-bit family code, a 48-bit serial number, and an 8-bit CRC tester. Its built-in multidrop controller ensures compatibility with other MicroLAN products.
