The DS2502S+ from Analog Devices is a 1Kbit Electrically Programmable Read-Only Memory (EPROM) designed for adding traceability and relevant information to individual systems. It utilizes a unique, factory-lasered 64-bit registration number for absolute traceability, composed of an 8-bit family code, a 48-bit serial number, and an 8-bit CRC tester.

 

The memory is partitioned into four 256-bit pages, allowing for random access of packetized data. Each page can be permanently write-protected to prevent tampering. This device functions as an add-only memory, enabling new data to be programmed without disturbing existing data, and supports software patching by superseding old pages with new ones.

 

Featuring a minimalist 1-Wire interface, the DS2502S+ reduces control, address, data, power, and programming signals to a single data pin. It connects directly to a single microprocessor port pin and communicates at speeds up to 16.3kb per second. A built-in multidrop controller ensures compatibility with other 1-Wire Net products.

 

The DS2502S+ operates over a wide voltage range of 2.8V to 6.0V and a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. It requires zero standby power. Programming occurs at 11.5V to 12.0V within a temperature range of -40°C to +50°C. The device is available in a compact 8-SOIC surface mount package.
