DS2482S-100+

The DS2482S-100+ is an I2C to 1-Wire bridge device from Analog Devices, designed to interface directly with standard or fast I2C masters. It performs bidirectional protocol conversion between the I2C master and downstream 1-Wire slave devices, acting as a 1-Wire master itself.

This device supports both standard (100kHz max) and fast (400kHz max) I2C communication speeds. Internal, factory-trimmed timers handle time-critical 1-Wire waveform generation, supporting standard and overdrive speeds. The DS2482-100 optimizes 1-Wire waveform generation with slew-rate control on rising and falling edges and offers programmable features to match drive characteristics to the 1-Wire slave environment.

Programmable strong pullup features support 1-Wire power delivery to devices like EEPROMs and sensors. The DS2482-100 includes an output to control an external MOSFET for enhanced strong pullup applications. The I2C slave address assignment is controlled by two binary address inputs, resolving potential conflicts with other I2C slave devices. It operates within a 2.9V to 5.5V range and is available in an 8-pin SOIC package.

Applications include printers, medical instruments, industrial sensors, and cell phones/PDAs. The DS2482S-100+ minimizes line noise, reducing system EMI, and supports EEPROMs, temperature sensors, and other 1-Wire slaves with momentary high source current modes.
