The DS2450S from Analog Devices is a versatile 16-bit successive approximation register (SAR) Analog to Digital Converter (ADC). It features four high-impedance analog inputs that can measure voltages over the 1-Wire bus. The device offers user-programmable input range (2.56V, 5.12V) and resolution (1 to 16 bits), along with programmable alarm thresholds.
Operating from a single 5V supply, the DS2450S exhibits very low power consumption, drawing only 2.5 mW in active mode and 25 μW when idle. Its built-in multidrop controller allows multiple DS2450s to operate on a common 1-Wire bus. Channels not used as analog inputs can function as open-drain digital outputs for closed-loop control applications. The device communicates directly with a microprocessor port pin at speeds up to 16.3 kbps, with an overdrive mode boosting this to 142 kbps.
Designed for ease of integration, the DS2450S connects to a single microprocessor port pin. It includes an on-chip 16-bit CRC generator for data transfer safeguarding. Each device has a unique, factory-lasered 64-bit registration number for absolute traceability. The DS2450S is available in a compact, low-cost 8-pin SOIC surface mount package, suitable for a wide range of applications.
Key specifications include a 16-bit resolution, 4 analog input channels, and a 5V operating voltage. The operating temperature range is from -40°C to +85°C. The device supports both single-ended input types and internal voltage references. Its SAR architecture ensures efficient and accurate analog-to-digital conversion.
