DS21554L Description

The DS21554L from Analog Devices is a single-chip transceiver (SCT) designed to connect to E1 lines. It integrates essential functions for E1 line interfaces, including on-board clock/data recovery circuitry that converts AMI/HDB3 E1 waveforms to an NRZ serial stream. The device automatically adjusts to E1 22AWG twisted-pair cables ranging from 0 to over 2km in length.

 

Key features include the ability to generate G.703 waveshapes for both 75-ohm coax and 120-ohm twisted cables. It incorporates an on-board jitter attenuator, selectable to either 32 bits or 128 bits, which can be placed in either the transmit or receive data paths. The integrated framer locates frame and multiframe boundaries, monitors the data stream for alarms, and is used for extracting and inserting signaling data, Si, and Sa-bit information. An on-board HDLC controller is also included, configurable for Sa-bit links or DS0s.

 

The DS21554L meets E1 specifications such as ITU-T G.703, G.704, G.706, G.823, G.732, and I.431, along with ETS 300 011, 300 233, and 300 166, and CTR12 and CTR4. It operates with a supply voltage of 4.75V to 5.25V and has an operating temperature range of 0°C to 70°C. The device is supplied in a 100-LQFP package and is surface-mount compatible.
