The DS2154LN from Analog Devices is an enhanced E1 single-chip transceiver designed for E1 (CEPT) PCM-30/ISDN-PRI applications. This device offers complete transceiver functionality with on-board line interfaces for clock/data recovery and waveshaping.

 

Key features include a crystal-less jitter attenuator, support for both 120Ω and 75Ω lines, and framing to FAS, CAS, and CRC4 formats. It incorporates dual on-board two-frame elastic store slip buffers capable of connecting to asynchronous backplanes up to 8.192MHz. The transceiver also provides an 8-bit parallel control port compatible with Intel or Motorola buses, and supports extraction and insertion of CAS signaling.

 

Designed for flexibility, the DS2154LN features programmable output clocks for fractional E1, H0, and H12 applications, along with fully independent transmit and receive functionality. It includes large counters for error detection and four separate loopbacks for testing. The device operates on a 5V supply and utilizes low-power CMOS technology.

 

This transceiver is available in a 100-pin LQFP package, measuring 14mm x 14mm, and is designed for surface mount installation. It is pin-compatible with the DS2152 T1 enhanced single-chip transceiver.
