DS21348T

The DS21348T from Analog Devices / Maxim Integrated is a complete E1, T1, or J1 Line Interface Unit (LIU) designed for both long-haul and short-haul trunk applications. This IC supports a wide range of features including internal software-selectable receive-side termination for 75Ω, 100Ω, and 120Ω, and generates appropriate line build-outs for E1 and T1 signals.

Featuring a 3.3V power supply, the DS21348T includes a crystal-less jitter attenuator that requires only a 2.048MHz master clock for both E1 and T1 applications, with an option for 1.544MHz for T1. It supports various encoding/decoding schemes such as AMI, HDB3, and B8ZS, and offers programmable monitor modes, loopbacks, and PRBS pattern generation/detection.

This device is available in a 44-TQFP package with a surface mount type. It operates within a temperature range of 0°C to 70°C. The DS21348T provides an 8-bit parallel or serial interface, muxed and nonmuxed parallel bus support for Intel or Motorola, and detects/generates Blue (AIS) alarms. It also features transmit open-circuit detection and receive carrier loss indication.

Key electrical characteristics include a 66mA current draw and a 50mA (RMS) current limiter. The NRZ/Bipolar interface for Tx/Rx data I/O and high-impedance state for TTIP and TRING are also notable features for robust telecommunication system integration.
