The DS2108S from Dallas Semiconductor is a monolithic integrated circuit designed as a differential SCSI switchable terminator. It is fully compliant with SCSI, SCSI-2, and SCSI-3 standards, and also conforms to the EIA RS-485 standard.
This device integrates eighteen 330-ohm and nine 150-ohm termination resistors with a ±5% tolerance. These resistors can be switched on or off via a power-down pin, allowing isolation from the SCSI bus. In its powered-down mode, the DS2108S adds only 6 pF capacitance to each signal line, which is well within the SCSI-3 allotment.
The DS2108S operates with SCSI signal voltages ranging from -7 to +12 Volts. It consumes a typical 56 mA in its quiescent state and only 1 mA when powered down. The component is housed in a 24-pin plastic SOIC package, offering a space-saving surface-mount solution.
