The DS1816R-5/TR is a supervisor integrated circuit from Dallas Semiconductor, part of the EconoReset family. This device is designed to automatically restart a microprocessor following a power failure. It features a precision temperature-compensated voltage reference and comparator circuit to monitor the power supply (VCC).
When an out-of-tolerance condition is detected, the DS1816R-5/TR generates an internal power-fail signal that forces the reset output to an active state. Once VCC returns to an in-tolerance condition, the reset signal is held active for approximately 150ms, allowing the power supply and processor to stabilize before the reset is released. This functionality reduces the need for discrete components in power monitoring circuits.
The device operates over a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and supports supply voltages from 0V to 5.5V. It offers accurate power monitoring with a VCC trip point of 3.06V typical. The output is an efficient open-drain type with an internal 5kΩ pull-up resistor.
The DS1816R-5/TR is available in both low-cost TO-92 and space-saving SOT-23 surface-mount packages, making it suitable for various design requirements.
