The DS1816 EconoReset from AD is designed to monitor power supply status and automatically restart a microprocessor after a power failure. It features a precision temperature-compensated voltage reference and comparator circuit to detect out-of-tolerance conditions.
When VCC returns to an in-tolerance condition, the reset signal is held active for approximately 150ms to allow the power supply and microprocessor to stabilize. This device reduces the need for discrete components and offers an efficient open-drain output with an internal 5k pull-up resistor.
Available in both low-cost TO-92 and space-saving SOT-23 packages, the DS1816 operates over a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. It provides accurate power monitoring with trip point tolerances of 5%, 10%, or 20%, making it suitable for various voltage monitoring applications, including 3V systems.
Key electrical characteristics include a supply voltage range of 0.0V to 5.5V, a typical operating current of 35µA, and an output current capability of 10mA at 0.4V. The VCC trip point for the DS1816-5 variant is specified between 2.98V and 3.15V.
