The DS1814CR-10/TR from Dallas Semiconductor is a 5V MicroMonitor designed to ensure reliable microprocessor operation by monitoring critical system conditions. It halts and restarts microprocessors during power transients and automatically restarts them after power failures. The device features accurate power supply monitoring with tolerances of 5%, 10%, or 20% for 3V systems.
This supervisor IC includes a pushbutton reset input and a watchdog timer function. The watchdog timer forces reset signals active if a strobe input does not change state within 1.12 seconds, preventing software lock-ups. The reset signal is maintained for a minimum of 140ms after a power-fail or pushbutton event to allow system stabilization.
Operating within an industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, the DS1814CR-10/TR is suitable for a wide variety of applications. It is housed in a compact SOT-23-5 surface-mount package, eliminating the need for discrete components and simplifying board design.
