It supports a voltage range of 2.5V to 3.7V and operates within a temperature range of 0°C to 70°C. This IC features 114 bytes of user NV RAM, a parallel interface, and supports both 12/24 hour time formats and YY-MM-DD-dd date formats.

 

Enhanced features include a 64-bit silicon serial number, power control circuitry for system power-on from alarms or key closures, and automatic battery backup with write protection for external SRAM. The DS1689S also includes a crystal select bit allowing operation with 6pF or 12.5pF crystals, a 32kHz output for power management, and counters for elapsed time and power cycles. It is compatible with existing BIOS for original DS1287 functions.

 

Packaged in a 28-SOIC (0.337", 8.56mm Width) surface mount configuration, the DS1689S is designed for integration into various electronic systems requiring accurate timekeeping and non-volatile RAM storage.
