The DS1620S from Analog Devices is a digital thermometer and thermostat that provides precise temperature monitoring for various systems. It measures temperatures from -55°C to +125°C with 0.5°C increments and reads the temperature as a 9-bit digital value. The device converts temperature to a digital word in a maximum of 750ms.
Designed for ease of use, the DS1620S requires no external components and operates from a supply voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V. Data is read from and written to the sensor via a simple 3-wire serial interface (CLK, DQ, RST). Its user-definable thermostatic settings are stored in nonvolatile memory, allowing for standalone applications without a CPU.
This digital temperature sensor is available in an 8-pin SOIC package, suitable for surface mounting. Its features include one-shot conversion and output switch capabilities, with an accuracy of ±0.5°C at 0°C to 70°C and ±2°C at -55°C to 125°C. The DS1620S is ideal for applications such as thermostatic controls, industrial systems, consumer products, and thermometers.
