The DS1314S-2+ by Dallas Semiconductor is a CMOS circuit that converts CMOS SRAM into nonvolatile memory. It automatically switches to a battery backup supply during VCC power failures and write-protects the SRAM when VCC is out of tolerance. This device monitors the voltage of a lithium cell and provides an early warning of impending battery failure via its Battery Warning output.
Key features include automatic VCC power-fail detection for 3.0V or 3.3V supplies and an industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. The DS1314S-2+ is available in space-saving 8-pin DIP and SOIC packages, with optional 16-pin SOIC and 20-pin TSSOP versions also available. Its precise voltage detection circuitry operates with extremely low battery consumption.
This nonvolatile controller is suitable for applications requiring data integrity during power interruptions. The integrated battery monitoring function helps prevent data loss by signaling the need for battery replacement before it reaches end-of-life. The device ensures reliable operation by holding the processor in reset during system power-up and power failures.
