The DS1305EN by Analog Devices / Maxim Integrated is a serial alarm real-time clock IC designed for precise timekeeping functions. It manages all timekeeping operations, including seconds, minutes, hours, date, month, day of the week, and year, with leap-year compensation valid up to 2100.

This device features 96 bytes of battery-backed NV RAM for data storage and includes two time-of-day alarms that are programmable based on seconds, minutes, hours, and day of the week. It supports standard serial port interfaces, including SPI modes 1 and 3, and a standard 3-wire interface, facilitating easy integration with most microcontrollers. The operating voltage ranges from 2.0V to 5.5V, and it consumes low current, from 25.3µA to 81µA.

The DS1305EN operates within an industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, making it suitable for a wide array of applications. It comes in a compact 20-pin TSSOP package, minimizing required board space. The device also offers dual-power supply pins for primary and backup power, along with an optional trickle charge output for the backup supply, ensuring continuous operation.
