The DS1305 is a Serial Alarm Real Time Clock (RTC) that provides seconds, minutes, hours, date, month, and year information. It includes leap year compensation valid up to 2100 and operates in either 24-hour or 12-hour format with an AM/PM indicator.
This RTC offers 96 bytes of non-volatile RAM for data storage. It features two time-of-day alarms that are programmable on a combination of seconds, minutes, hours, and day of the week. The serial interface supports both Motorola Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) and standard 3-wire configurations.
The DS1305 operates from a voltage range of 2.5V to 5.5V, with an optional full operation range of 2.0V to 5.5V. It is available in space-efficient 20-pin TSSOP and 16-pin DIP packages. An optional industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C is also available.
Dual power supply pins are provided for primary and backup power supplies, with an optional trickle charge output to the backup supply. The VBAT pin allows the device to be backed up by a non-rechargeable battery.
