DS1302 Description

Short technical summary and product information.

The Analog Devices DS1302 is a trickle-charge timekeeping chip that manages all timekeeping functions, including seconds, minutes, hours, date, month, day of the week, and year with leap-year compensation up to 2100. It includes 31 bytes of battery-backed general-purpose RAM.

This IC features a simple 3-wire serial interface (CE, I/O, SCLK) that is TTL-compatible and supports single-byte or burst mode data transfer. It operates over a wide voltage range of 2.0V to 5.5V and consumes very low power, using less than 300nA at 2.0V.

The DS1302 is available in an 8-pin DIP package, minimizing space requirements. An optional industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C is also supported for operation in a wide range of applications. The device is UL recognized.

Key features include leap year compensation, non-volatile RAM, and a trickle-charger. The time format can be set to 12-hour or 24-hour with an AM/PM indicator, and the date format is YY-MM-DD-dd.
